36th Annual Housewalk - 9/10/2010

9:00 AM TO 9:00 PM: Service League of Crystal Lake will be holding the 36th Annual Housewalk on Friday, September 10. Four fabulous homes will be open to view for ideas and inspiration. New hours this year will be 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Ticket prices will be $20.00 in advance and $25.00 on September 10. All senior tickets (age 62 +) will be $ 15.00. Tickets can be purchased beginning August 10 at Countryside Flowers, Wickham Interiors, 1776 Restaurant, and Mum Floral Design. They are also available online at www.slcrystallake.org and from any Service League member. Please come and support this fundraiser which helps the Service League raise money to financially assist those less fortunate in our community. In their over 85 years of existence, they have made a positive impact on well over one thousand families.

Wine Tasting Benefit - 9/10/2010

5:00 PM TO 7:30 PM: Join us on Friday September 10th for a wine tasting event with Armanetti Wine Shop. We are working with Armanetti to host a benefit for the Cary 26 Education Foundation. 6:00 PM TO 8:30 PM: March of Dimes tasting event where 12 of the best restaurants in town provide samples of their best dishes for all to enjoy. 3rd Annual Pedal For PADS - 9/18/2010

9:00 AM TO 1:30 PM: McHenry County PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is hosting their annual Bike-A-Thon on the trails within Moraine Hills State Park on September 18 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. After the ride, enjoy the park, live music, silent auction, raffles, lunch, and activities for the kids. Barbeque lunch and t-shirts provided for those raising $150 or more in pledges. There are no costs to register. However we do encourage a minimum of $150 in pledges. Art of the Land Sale & Benefit - 9/24/2010 TO 9/25/2010

6:30 PM TO 10:00 PM: The Land Conservancy of McHenry is hosting Art of the Land Art Sale & Benefit

On September 24-25, Thirty artists and artisans will have their work on display and for sale at the gallery. Thirty percent of all sales will go to support The Land Conservancy of McHenry County’s land preservation work.

Join us on Friday, September 24, 6:30-9:30 p.m., the gallery will be open for a free event called “Voices of the Land” that will feature short videos, poetry and stories about the land from local people. On Saturday, September 25, from 6:30-10 p.m., The Land Conservancy will hold a benefit with wine, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction and music to celebrate the beauty of the art work and the local land. Tickets for the benefit are $20 in advance and $30 at the door and can be used for both nights.

Rally for the Cure Golf Event at GWC - 9/30/2010

9:00 AM: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and George Williams College of Aurora University is supporting the cause by hosting the fourth annual Rally for the Cure golf fundraiser. The outing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30 on the GWC Golf Course located at Highway 67 and North Lakeshore Drive in Williams Bay.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with coffee and pastries. A shotgun start begins at 10 a.m. with a nine-hole scramble and prizes, followed by a full buffet lunch at 1 p.m. in the Beasley Campus Center located on the GWC campus at 350 Constance Blvd., just a short drive from the golf course.

Lunch will feature guest speaker Ruth Rorig, a teacher and yoga instructor speaking on “Health and Healing Through Yoga.” Rorig, a certified yoga and pilates instructor, has been a devotee of hatha yoga and meditation for more than 13 years and has taught yoga and pilates for six years, including weeknights and weekends at the Lake Geneva YMCA.

Sponsors for the event include M&I Bank, Mercy Health System, Southeastern Wisconsin Title Company and George Williams College of Aurora University.

“Last year’s event raised $5,700 and was a day filled with friendship, fun and a whole lot of spirit,” said Linda Kuchenberg, assistant vice president, M&I Bank. “Rally for the Cure provides a really positive, upbeat way for people to come together for a common goal and fight against this horrible disease.”

All proceeds will go to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
